It is surprising to find that Google search is browser dependent. Technically, there should be no reason for this fact since data retrieval from data base need not be client dependent. Google programmer should have the answer.
Why this is important?
From technology point of view, I am curios what can be the reason for such an impotant and popular action.
Second, SEO optimization companies target the first page, but the results differ in few positions - we have a problem. I have found differences of up to 12 places! This means different pages, i.e. the difference between first and second page, and this is what matters!
Today, the beginning of 2009, IE users are above 60% and Firefox users are about 20%. But if you consider age, the differences are changing.
Background
The phenomena is known to me for few months now, and in the net I found posts as early as January, 2008. You may find below my experiments from January, 2009. The meaning is that the problem is persistent.
What next?
I hope to get answers from Google experts and/or from anyone who can contribute to the understanding of the issue. As a result we will know how to measure SEO optimizers.
What do I know so far?
- Language Preferences.
I did find minor differences and that is OK. The browsers are configured with the same set of preferences.
- Location
Loaction matters. All tests were made under the same conditions and location in particular.
- Chrom agrees with Firefox results
Googls browser - Chrom agrees with firefox. Does this means anything? Are there "correct" and "wrong" search results?
